To use Things 3 on my work laptop, I would’ve had to repurchase it using my work Apple ID. This meant I couldn’t use Things 3 on my work laptop unless I sign in with my personal Apple ID because I had purchased Things with my personal Apple ID. See how easy and fast it is to add and organise a task in Todoist compared to Things?Īlthough both my personal and office laptops are a MacBook, they are signed in using two different Apple IDs. I’ll add the same task into a project called “Articles” and schedule it for tomorrow: Adding and organising a task in Todoist. I’ll add the task and organise it into a project called “Article Bank”, and schedule it for tomorrow: Adding and organising a task in Things 3. I’ll add a task to “Write an article on best to-do apps” to both Things 3 and Todoist. Let’s watch a demo of what I’m talking about here: Initially, I thought I could get used to this new flow, but as I started adding more and more tasks to Things, the difference started to show up. Things 3’s UI based organisational features started becoming annoying after some time since I was accustomed to Todoist’s swift natural language input. However: Things 3’s charm started to wear off as I continued using it Todoist’s desktop app has some keyboard shortcuts, but they are nowhere near what Things 3 supports. I can control and navigate the entire desktop app with just the keyboard. This layout allowed me to look at tasks based on the current half of the day.Īlthough a similar segmentation is possible in Todoist with a filter, it’s not as natural and beautiful as the one in Things.Īnother subtle UX I liked in Things 3 is that unlike Todoist, overdue tasks get pushed to the next day without any bright red warnings.įinally, keyboard shortcuts are wicked good in Things 3. I work on my personal projects in the morning and during the evening - before and after my office hours. What stood out to me in the design is the ability to segregate tasks based on the time of the day. Todoist vs asana trial#When I installed Things 3’s trial version, I immediately fell in love with the design. It felt like the same web app wrapped inside a container and published as a macOS app. The main problem I had with Todoist was that the macOS app didn’t feel polished. Looking at my stats, I completed around 3600+ tasks with Todoist in one and a half years: All the Todoist karma points I’ve accumulated.Īlthough I had been satisfied with Todoist for quite some time, I was blown away: When I met Things 3 I can add and organise a bunch of tasks in a matter of minutes.Īlthough Todoist offers a ton of other useful features like filters, this one feature was the main reason I stuck to Todoist for so long. This increase in speed is prominent when I’m listing down tasks in bulk. Organising by typing shortcuts is way faster than having to click ten buttons on the screen. I could naturally type in and organise a task the way I want, like this: Using the natural language input in Todoist. On Todoist, however, the natural language input was a complete game-changer. While every app made it super easy to add a task to my list, organising the task into a project, priorities and timing was a multi-step process.įor each task, I had to jump through multiple hoops to get it adequately organised in popular apps like Any.do. My long-standing problem with to-do list apps had been the inability to organise a task on my list quickly. Let’s start with: Why I chose Todoist in the first place In this post, I’ll talk about what pushed me towards using Todoist in the first place, why I moved to Things 3, and why I switched back. That was until I finally moved back to Todoist last week. Todoist was the first to-do list app I started using seriously.Īfter trying out and failing at so many to-do list apps, Todoist was the one which made sense to me.īut, around the start of 2020, I switched to another to-do list app called Things 3 and had been using it for months.

Of course to fully enjoy the multiplayer experience, a high speed broadband connection is essential.Īnother fun thing is that a large portion of the game will be fought side by side with other marines. An interesting fact is that few of the maps are remakes of old Quake 2 & 3 maps such as "The longest yard" and so on. Not much deviation from the fast paced game style we saw in Quake 3. The multiplayer portion of the game is pretty basic. And just as your sanity is to be lost forever, you are rescued by fellow marines. Such as a huge needle piercing your chest, a saw hacking off your legs, and mechanical legs nailed in with brute efficiency. As if that wasn't enough, there is another marine in line in front of you, and before it's your turn, you see everything that awaits you. Imagine lying helplessly on a moving table, waiting in line for the dreadful Strogg machinery to find its way into your body and mind. Probably the most memorable moment in the game is your Stroggification. Of course, I should mention the weapon that most gamers remember Quake by the Rail gun accurate and deadly as always. Ranging from a simple machinegun, through a rocket launcher, grenade launcher, a nasty looking nailgun, all the way to a dark matter gun which consumes everything in its path a BFG with a different name. and aware of the entire processĪs this is an FPS, I guess I should mention the arsenal at your disposal. Not all the environments in the game are dark, bloody claustrophobic labs As you turn your head, you notice a human torso, still alive, and with each limb connected to a pipeline that doesn't look the least comfortable. An example if I may as you enter an improvised medical bay, the first thing you see is a fellow marine strapped to the table his chest opened widely revealing in detail all of his organs, and strange machines halfway through butchering him completely. Considering the Strogg practice cybernetic technology, which of course requires human specimens those are the kind of things you can expect to be running in to during the course of your single player campaign. blood, guts and remnants of medical experiments can hardly be called beautiful. The environments in the game are gorgeous, well, gorgeously made anyway. The graphics are based on an improved Doom 3 engine, which work pretty well, even if the hardware demands are borderline astronomic. well, almost, since you get rescued just before they insert you with some sort of chip which eliminates any and all brain functions. An interesting twist in the game is when you are captured by the Strogg, and forced into their service. It is your duty to rendezvous with the rest of your squad, and in doing so you venture deep into the Strogg stronghold and, as it usually is with these types of games, witness horrors beyond your imagination. After a rather messy landing, you find yourself in the trenches on Strogg, surrounded by enemy fire and packed together with only a handful of survivors from the assault. You, Mathew Kane, have only recently been added to Rhino squad, and immediately transported to the surface of the planet. In the meantime, a battle rages high above the toxic clouds of Strogg as the human marine corps try to send a final and devastating blow to the Strogg. A lone marine kills the Strogg leader and flees in an escape pod. The game starts at the exact same moment where Quake 2 leaves off. Will it be a worthy successor to the multiplayer franchise called Quake 3? Will it be a failure like so many games before? Well, the answer is staring me in the face as I write this, and it is a good one. When Quake 4 was announced, there was a lot of skepticism involved considering its release. Computer technology has thrived, and with it, the gaming industry as well. We now go approximately 10 years forward. can you feel the powah? Can you feel it!?Īnother blast from the past is the Electro cannon, looking good as always This sequel, the fourth in line, leaves almost nothing to be desired. A steady and interesting singleplayer campaign complemented by a fast paced and well balanced multiplayer assured its future in the years to come. Id software's Quake was one of the first FPS's to hit the market and it was more than well accepted. A game such as this needs no special introduction. |
